Janice T. Twisdale, 82, went peacefully in her sleep at her home on Thursday September 10, 2020. She was born on July 28th, 1938 to the union of the late John Ellis Tinsley and Corine Shelton Tinsley.

Janice was one of 13 children. She was educated in Hanover County Public Schools and graduated from Gandy High School. Janice accepted Christ at an early age. She was an active member of Providence Baptist Church in Ashland, VA, where she served as a missionary and on the hospitality committee.

Even after her health began to fail, she could be found sitting in her seat, back in the Tinsley corner. She loved her church. Janice was affectionately known as Nana.

She gained this name after becoming a grandmother to what would eventually be six grandchildren. She loved her grandchildren more than anything else. In addition to her grandchildren she watched and cared for many of her nieces and nephews and anyone else who needed a babysitter. Nana loved white linens and towels possibly just as much as she loved her family. She made the best sweet tea, homemade rolls, lemon meringue and sweet potato pie.

She was preceded in death by per parents and her beloved husband Stewart Twisdale and son Ryan Twisdale and 7 much loved siblings She leaves to cherish her memory; two daughters, Barbara Twisdale (Acie Wyatt Sr.) and Vanessa Ford; a son-in-law, Ernest Ford Sr,; six grandchildren, Acie Wyatt (Kamilla), Stacie Straus (Daron), Ernest Ford Jr., Phil Ford (Jessica), Tiffani Mason (Tyron) and Jordan Twisdale.; nine great-grandchildren, Khadeis Battle, Tamia Ford, Jayla Straus, TJ Mason, Taylor Mason, Josie Straus, Olivia Ford, Tori Mason and Jacob Ford; her siblings; Miriam Carter, Alma Winston, George Tinsley (Debbie), Bethaniel Johnson and Phyllis Mickens (Wayne); brother and sister-in- laws Mitchell Mines, Giola Tinsley, Norman Carter Sr., Earl Twisdale, Alease Twisdale, Betty Johnson, Purcell Twisdale Jr, Ellis Twisdale
