James Edward Dodson, Sr was born on August 28,1929 to the late Wesley and Lucy Coleman Dodson in Lorne, Virginia. He was first of six children. Most people know James as Edward. Edward was educated in the Caroline County School System. He received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and joined the St. Luke Baptist Church.

On December 19, 1949 Edward joined Gladys Moore in holy matrimony. Edward was a loving, devoted husband and father. He was a man of great faith in God. Gladys was the love of his life. You would often see Edward and Gladys sitting on the front porch in the afternoons together.

Edward was an active member at St. Luke. He was a trustee. He also served for several years as church treasurer and sexton. He was a faithful member attending until his health conditions slow him down. He worked as a truck driver for over 40 years for Flippo Lumber Corporation in Doswell, VA.

A kindhearted and easy-going person, Edward was beloved by his family, church and community. He was known by his trucking family as Green Bee. He loved going to church and being around family and friends. He was a faithful member attending until health conditions slowed him down. He took pride in the care of his lawn and garden during the spring and summer seasons. He was also a good mechanic working on his cars as well as family members cars. His favorite snacks were ginger snaps and peppermint candy.

Edward was preceded in death by his wife Gladys M. Dodson, sisters Anna Lee Moore, Lucy Mae Anderson and Louise Virginia Dodson Garnett, and brother Charles Alexander Dodson.
