James and I started as colleagues and became good friends over the last year. Though our lives followed very different paths, we shared similar views on many topics. He always inspired me to be a better version of myself and made me feel valued. He was a man of faith, a patriot, a talented writer, a loving husband and father, and a dear friend. I feel fortunate to have known him and will never forget what a special person he was. I am honored to have shared part of his journey. Sending my heartfelt condolences to Jeanette and James’ beloved family.

I knew James only for a brief time. and at a distance. It’s surprising how much you can learn about someone on a phone call or video meeting. I will hold my memories of James in my heart. He was special. He is missed.

James was truly a Man of God! He is now resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I’m glad the Lord allowed us to meet each other on the path of this life. There is a word I will take from the Yiddish language to describe James Brown. The word is Mensch. It means a person of Honor and Integrity. That was James Brown to me!

I have known James D. Brown all my life. He was my Brother and truly my Friend! He was a man who loved his family, They were his priority! James had a deep and sincere love for his mother and father and his siblings. Our conversations were always uplifting and very impactful. Sometimes it was a little tension also. We would always end our conversations with love and laughter and with I love you. James was my big brother and he was that! I can say after our conversations I always was striving to be better. The scripture says “iron sharpens iron.” I believe my brother and I did that for each other. That was the kind of person he was, pushing you to do and be better. He knew that he had a purpose here on this planet. It was to be used by Almighty God!, who had created him for Himself. For him to be my brother was a privilege and an honor that God had given me. This is the way I felt about my brother. I love my brother so much and he knew it and I also knew that he loved me. I will miss James so much. It is difficult to believe he is know longer here anymore. I can’t even put it into words. We spoke on the phone practically everyday. I miss that so much! So I say, I love you James Brown. Take your eternal rest, YOUR FATHER has called you home. I will see you on the other side, my Dearest Brother. Love, your sister, Danette N. Brown

Dear Jeanette, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. James was an amazing man that shared so much of himself. I only knew him for a short time but our interactions were meaningful and very impactful. I learned so much about my faith because of James. He was a light in this world that will be greatly missed. This is not a goodbye but rather a temporary separation until we see him on the other side. May God continue to bless you and your family.
