Hazel Lorraine Coleman Carter was born January 30, 1928 to the late Doctor and Bessie Coleman. Hazel transitioned into eternal life on July 2, 2020 at Memorial Reginal Hospital Mechanicsville, VA to be with the Lord. Mom lived to be 92 years old. We were blessed to have had her in our lives.
Hazel attended Mangohick Public School, and she joined Mangohick Baptist Church at an early age. She was the mother of the Sunday School.
She enjoyed growing a garden every year, and after the garden was ready for harvest, she would share the produce with anyone who would stop by. She loved cutting the grass and keeping the yard looking nice. If there was ever anyone who wanted or needed a true friend, she was one. We will miss talking to her every day, and there is a hole in all of our hearts. We love her so much.
Hazel Carter was the wife of the late Robert Andrew Carter. Of this union they had 4 children. One of which, Delores L. Carter, preceded them both in death.
Left to cherish her memories, Hazel Carter has 3 children: Barbara Carter, Robert L. (Milkshake) Carter, Sr. (Mary) and Cathy Berry. 5 grandchildren: Bryan Carter, Domonique Jenkins (Adrian), Marcus (Dante) Carter (LaTia), Trina Berry and Robert L. (Little Roy) Carter, Jr. Hazel was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers: Lynette (Tennie) Banks, Julie (Bea) Green, Junious Coleman, Harrison Coleman, James Coleman, Annie Studgeon. She is succeeded by two brothers Conway Taylor (Boo) (Shirley) and William Taylor (Ralph). As well as 12 great grandchildren: Joscelyn, Shaleah, TaeQwan, Kenneth, Jasmyne, Aleya, Anijah, Ciera, Kayla, Kiki, Peyton, and Tristan.
And a host of other relatives and friends.
Special thanks to Rosa Brooks who was always there to help Hazel whenever needed with getting any paperwork done. Thanks to the Mangohick Baptist Church who checked on our mom and our sister to make sure they were okay.
