Harold Hewitt Freeman was the youngest of six children born to the late Winkey and Mary Freeman. Harold was born on April 23, 1939, in Caroline County, VA. He was preceded in death by his sisters Lorine Keys, Carliese Bagby, Margie Freeman and brothers Calbert Freeman, and Tignor Freeman.

Harold attended McDuff Elementary and Union High School and graduated from Union High School, Bowing Green, VA in 1957. Harold married his wife Dorothy Lewis on August 31, 1963, at Brown Grove Baptist Church, Ashland, VA. Harold joined Oxford Mt. Zion Baptist Church at an early age and served as a trustee for several years. He retired from the Environmental Protection Agency, Hazardous Waste Inspector, Quantico Marine Corps base, after 25 years of service. Harold always had side jobs. He had a grass cutting business and received a certificate from J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College to become a certified electrician. He also learned carpentry from his father (Winkey Freeman) and helped install the vestibule at Oxford Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Harold used his skills to perform many jobs in the community including installing electricity in the basement at Oxford Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He loved to watch westerns, cruising to various islands, playing spades, fishing, going to the drag race track, and spending time with family. He was also a big Dallas Cowboys fan.

Harold leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 60 years, Dorothy Freeman, two daughters, Delois Richards (Clarence), Antoinette Jones (Kenny), both of Ruther Glen, VA, one son, Howard Freeman, of Bowling Green, VA, granddaughters, Colisha Freeman, Ariel Freeman, Shannon Britt, grandsons, Clarence Richards III, Larnell Freeman, great-granddaughters, Azyia Shepherd, Aubree Richards, Aniyah Freeman, two great grandsons, Jordan Freeman, Xavier Richards, Sister-in-laws, Laura Freeman, Mary Harris, Joyce Lewis, brother-in-law, Clyde Lewis, a good friend, Bernice Waller, and a host of nieces and nephews.
