Hannah Mae Peatross Smith, 86, of Glen Allen, VA peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Saturday, January 29, 2022.

Hannah was born on January 28, 1936, in Caroline County, VA to the late Wynda Joe Peatross and Vandelia Mary Harris Peatross. Hannah was proceeded in death by her devoted husband of 61 years Perry Wilson Smith, Sr., two brothers, Wilbert, and Edmond Peatross. One sister Myrtle Peatross Johnson.

Hannah was educated in Caroline County Public Schools in Bowling Green, VA. Hannah lived a life with the love of God and accepted her Lord and Savior at an early age. Hannah joined First Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and was baptized under the leadership of Rev. J. L. Hobson. She serviced in the Hospitality Committee where she enjoyed working in the Fellowship Hall. Hannah was also a member of the Missionary and Women’s Ministries for several years.
Hannah was united in holy matrimony to Perry Wilson Smith on December 24, 1957. From their union they were blessed with three children, Sherry, Perry, and Kirk.

As a teenager, Hannah loved working as a food preparer. Her first place of employment was at Bowie Restaurant in Dawn, VA. She went on to be a Cook at Confectionary Café in Richmond, VA. Then on to Charlie’s Restaurant in Ashland, VA where she mentored students from Gandy High School for over a decade. Her remaining years were spent working at Tyson’s Food Glen Allen, VA. for a period 35 years.

Hannah’s passions included cooking, her famous potato salad, delicious hot rolls, her cobblers, and collard greens. She loved gardening, shopping, and dressing to the nines, you never saw her in a pair of jeans, and most of all she loved traveling with her family.
God called her home after blessing us with her love and guidance for many years. Her memory will always be treasured by her loving children, Sherry (James Brown) devoted son in law, Perry (Tammy), and Kirk. One granddaughter, Shannon Johnson. Two sisters, Pearl P. Smith, and Geneva P. Brown (Virgil). Nieces; Yvette Johnson, Pyria Murpire, Michelle Brown, Helena Thorpe, Angela Loving. Nephews; Randolph Johnson, Robert Johnson, Randolph Peatross, Rev. Mark Smith, Carl Brown, Jeffrey and Michael Johnson and host of relatives and friends.
