Eveleen Virginia “Pooda” James, was born April 6, 1945 in Montpelier, Virginia. She entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at the age of 77 with open arms by her husband, Herman James, her son, Jerman James, her granddaughter, Jazne` James, her mother, Gladys Harris and brothers Robert and Walter Joyce.

Pooda accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was baptized at Bethany Baptist Church in Montpelier, Virginia. She attended Hanover County Public Schools.

Pooda was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to her family. The one thing that she loved the most was family gatherings and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had a pleasant personality which made everyone around her felt her sincerity. She was passionate about baseball, listening to music and dancing and the Washington Redskins.

Pooda will forever live in our hearts. She leaves to cherish her memories her five children, Christopher James (Kathy), Shirley James, Allen James (Wanda), Herman “Peterman” James (Denise), Virginia “Meme” James; Twenty-five grandchildren; Twenty-one great grandchildren; One brother, Cedric Joyce; One sister, Marilyn Joyce; One aunt, Elsie Richardson; One sister-in-law, Sarah James; One devoted friend, Debra Castle and a host of other relatives and friends.
