When asked to describe herself, Ena once wrote, “I am a young and ambitious woman who is eager to embrace the blessings that God has in store. I’m on this journey to learn, grow, and discover life on another LEVEL.” On Monday, January 25, 2021, not only had she completed those goals, but that journey led her to experience a level we all aspire to as she transitioned from labor to reward. She joins her favorite guy, her grandfather Clarence Melvin Anderson, affectionately known as “Poppi,” and her beloved uncle, Rev. Dr. Levy Armwood, affectionately known as “Uncle Levy.”

Ena Ampy Logan was born on October 29, 1991, to Priscilla Ampy-Hooker and the late Bernard Ampy in Richmond, VA. Ena’s mother and father were married 13 years before God answered their prayers and blessed them with a baby girl named in memory and honor of her great-grandmother Ena. From that day on, our worlds forever changed.

Ena was baptized as a child at Westwood Baptist Church under the spiritual guidance of Pastor Linda Stevens. She had a strong, Christian upbringing, nurtured by her mother, who also instilled in her the importance of education and giving back to the community. Those principles would serve as the foundation of her life’s work and fuel her passion for children and the arts. As a Richmond native, Ena grew up participating in theatre, modeling, piano lessons, and dance. The love of her family also helped color her world. She enjoyed Sunday dinners with her family, the Anderson’s, and family vacations & girls’ weekends with her older cousins.

She graduated from J.R Tucker High School in 2009 with an advanced diploma and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Howard University. During her time there, she was incredibly active on campus. She became a student ambassador, a member of BisonCORP, a chapel assistant, a Lady Diva, and a U.S. Dream Academy member. Ena also joined the Alpha Nu Omega, Incorporated Christian Fraternity, and Sorority. She was the ultimate socialite and a proud Bison, planning yearly homecomings, HU events, and creating lifelong friendships.

Her impact continued amongst her peers as she chartered the Renascent chapter of the Young Women’s Christian League.

On June 28, 2014, one year after her graduation, Ena married the love of her life, John R. Logan, III “JT.” She was a devoted wife and mother. Together they created a dynamic team in both life and business as the co-owners of an advertising agency, Four Deep Multimedia LLC.

As she progressed, Ena’s faith in God remained at the center of her life. She became a faithful member of The Life Church RVA and deeply cherished her church family and Pastors, Vernon & Ashley Gordon.

God gave Ena a vision to impact little brown girls by teaching them how to embrace the young ladies God created them to be. From this vision, The R.A.R.E. Academy was born, Radiant And Representing Excellence. Through this beautiful work, Ena taught countless girls how to love themselves and others with the application of Christian principles and the performing arts. She used this organization to serve the Richmond community and was honored In 2017 – as one of Richmond’s Class of 30 Under 30.

Her passion for serving brown girls began to expand beyond the arts, and she furthered her efforts in areas of education and mental health. Over her tenure, she served as a therapeutic day treatment specialist, in-home counselor, instructional assistant, and behavior interventionist.

Determined to provide the best care to those she was called to serve, she was awarded a full scholarship grant to pursue a Master’s of Education in School Counseling (VCU). From there, she was employed by Chesterfield County Public Schools as a School Counselor at Chalkley Elementary School.

Ena was not just a jewel to her community but to her beloved family & friends. As the only granddaughter, Ena held true as the pride and joy of her family. She loved people, and while she had no biological siblings, she garnered a host of “sisters” and friends throughout her life.

She embodied the definition of sisterhood and held the role amongst her friends as the “glue.” It was imperative to her that no one was left out, always felt at home in her presence, and were making the best choices, even if they didn’t want to hear them. Ena was the epitome of class with a side of sass. Her incessant desire for joy and making beautiful memories is something that will exceed the span of time.

In all, it was Ena’s life’s purpose to open the door of possibilities to all who never knew that they existed and motivating them to strive for excellence in everything that they do.

That legacy will continue to live on through her daughter Ena Bernae (Eebie) Logan.

Ena is survived by her greatest gifts, her husband John R. Logan III, and daughter Ena Bernae “Eebie” Logan, her incredibly devoted mother Priscilla Ampy-Hooker and stepfather, James Hooker, maternal grandmother, Shelia “Grammy” Anderson, one aunt, Aretha “Aunt Cookie” Armwood, three uncles, Carl Anderson (Ruby), Norman Robinson, Raymond Robinson, one first cousin, Kevin Anderson (Angela), three great aunts, Bertha Nicholas, Vivian Taylor, Priscilla Davis, godparents John & Bernice Anderson and LeCretia Rogers, cherished and devoted friend, Devin Stribbling, father-in-law, John R. Logan Jr., mother-in-law, Patricia J. Logan, and sister-in-law, Jasmine P. Logan and a host of other family, friends and in-laws.
