A Time to Be Born
Earnest Roger Thomas was born March 15, 1956, to the late Walter Mitchell Thomas and Marie Woodson Thomas in Montpelier, Virginia.
A Time to Live
Earnest dedicated his life to Christ on May 1, 2005, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Montpelier, Virginia. He was educated in Louisa County Public Schools. He was employed at Kjellstorm and Lee Inc., assisting with the construction of banks and office buildings in Richmond, Virginia for many years until he retired from the workforce.
Earnest was a caring husband, father, brother, uncle, and papa. He was high spirited and sociable. When in good health, he loved riding and showing off his Harley-Davidson Sportster. Being a father to all girls, he loved teaching them essential life skills. Honored to be called “Papa”, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching them grow. In his pastime, he was entertained by western shows and movies. Overall, he was a jack of all trades and enjoyed helping others.
A Time to Mourn
Earnest Thomas departed this life on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at his home in Mineral, Virginia, surrounded by his loving family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Mitchell Thomas, and Marie Woodson-Thomas. Also, his brothers, Walter William Thomas Sr. (Michele), Robert Thomas Sr. (Karen), brother-in-law Jerome F. Shelton and sister, Shirley Jackson (Willie).
Those left to cherish his memories are his devoted wife, Glenda E. Thomas, seven daughters, Shanna Butler (late Marques) of Montpelier, Virginia, Nadine Wyatt of Richmond, Virginia, Tyanna Thomas of Durham, North Carolina, Tess Sacra (David, III) of Bumpass, Virginia, Tapoyea Chapman of Richmond, Virginia, Earnisha Driver (Taurean) of Richmond, Virginia, and Aasiaonnia Thomas of Mineral, Virginia. Six sisters, Lorita Morris (Darryl) of Richmond, Virginia, Cecilia Woodson (Albert) of Louisa, Virginia, Alice Thomas of Richmond, Virginia, Doris Thomas of Richmond Virginia, Gladys Thomas of Richmond, Virginia, and Gloria Jackson (Daniel) of Bumpass, Virginia. Four brothers, Cecil Thomas (Nicole) of New Jersey, Calvin Thomas (Rose) of Montpelier, Virginia, Jerry Thomas (Cheryl) of Montpelier, Virginia, James Thomas of Montpelier, Virginia. Sister-in-laws, Rev. Geraldine Shelton (Wayne) of Louisa, Virginia, Gwendonetta Thomas (Richard, Jr.) of Montpelier, Virginia, and Gay Williams (Edward) of North Carolina. Six aunts, three uncles, eight grandchildren and one on the way. A host of nieces and nephews. One devoted friend, his dog, Pierre.
