Mrs. Dorothy Mae Allen of Stafford, Virginia departed this life on October 5, 2022 peacefully at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center. She was born January 8, 1936 to the late Martha Ellis Harris and Robert L. Bumbrey at Mary Washington Hospital located in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She is preceded in death by her husband John Allen Sr., one of her younger sisters Betty “Jean” Allen, her only son John, and her nephew Mac Allen.

Dorothy received her education from Stafford High School, in Stafford Virginia.

She was a very beautiful, intelligent, strong ,and hardworking, woman who was never afraid to get her hands dirty. She always gave selfless service anytime she was working. She was a child of God, a woman of faith, and a warrior of Christ.

If it was one thing that Dorothy loved, she loved her church and her family. She was a deaconess at Little Forest Baptist Church, where she played a major role in planning events, your regular church services, and the upkeeping. She was very personable, loving, caring, and always was a lending hand. Dororthy was also a listening ear. If there was anyone who needed to talk about anything at any time whether it was day or night she would be there! She was also never afraid to speak her mind.Dorothy was someone who everyone can speak highly about, and say nothing but positive things. Her personality was one of a kind and she had the biggest heart ever known.

Those that are left to cherish her memories include her three sisters: Maryann Johnson, Evelyn Jones, and Helen Johnson, her brother Robert M. Bumbrey (Junie), three grandchildren: John Allen Jr, Orlando Jones, and Kennedy Wardlaw, and two aunts Gladys Bumbrey, and Alive Hamn, with an honorable mention to many other amazing family members such a nieces, cousins, nephews, uncles, and friends who she loved and who love her dearly.
