Doris Mitchell King was born on January 18, 1958, in Manhattan, New York to the late Jesus Mitchell and Dolores Benitez. Due to health challenges, she transitioned to heaven on September 4th, 2022.

Doris lived in the Bronx, New York as a young child and moved to Fajardo, Puerto Rico at a young age to be with her family after the passing of her mother. She attended and graduated Santiago Veve Calzada High School. Doris returned to the United States after marrying her former husband. She attended Cosmetology School and achieved her certification. For over twenty-five years, Doris worked at the Dahlgren Naval Base in the Security field.

Doris enjoyed watching her favorite television shows, dancing, going to cookouts, eating her favorite foods – shrimp and crabs, and traveling. She also loved spending quality time with family and friends, including her younger sister Nancy, her sons Alex and Delvon, and her best friend Tijuana.

Doris leaves to cherish her memory her sons Alexander King, Jr. (Alex) and Delvon King; her sisters Virginia Mitchell, Maria Mitchell, Yvette Mitchell, Nancy Mitchell, and Jesus Mitchell; her cousins Sonia Lopez, Milagros Hernandez, Miguel Angel Lopez, and several other cousins; her grandchildren Kyree King, Zahari Bemon (King), Delvon King, Jr., Sean Mark Nixs (King), and Alejandro Manual King; her best friend Tijuana Gibson and her children Travis, Jabar and Ronisha; her dear co-workers Pam, Ernestine, Angelina, and Vicki; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Doris was preceded by her parents Jesus Mitchell and Dolores Benitez and her brothers Ernesto Mitchell, Carlos Mitchell, Rogelio Mitchell, Angel Mitchell, and Chivirico Mitchell.

Doris was a kind, loving spirit who found great pleasure in helping others and seeing people happy and feeling good. She will be missed by many, and her memory remains in the minds, hearts, and spirits of all those she touched with her presence.
