Mrs. Cinderella Diane James Wyatt, better known as Cindy, was born on May 4, 1955, to the late Earl Lewis James Sr. and Clara Mildred Rollins James. She completed this earthly journey on May 5, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, VA.
Cindy was educated in Hanover County Public School and earned her High School Diploma after raising her 2 boys and serving as caregiver for her “Norman” who’d suffered a major stroke earlier in their marriage.
Cindy joined the Bethany Baptist Church at an early age and was a member of the Senior Choir where she used her gift of song and at times served as a lead soloist. She also taught Vacation Bible School and was a member of the Senior Ministry.
She retired as a Preschool teacher from the International Mission Board, SBC after working diligently for 25 years. Not being one to sit idle, after retirement, Cindy became a driver for the Hanover County Public School Transportation Department.
She loved spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed hobbies, such as; talking on the phone, listening to old music, getting a good dance in and cooking food for the soul. She was especially known for her famous banana pudding, potato salad, and many other dishes.
Cindy married Norman Wyatt in 1971, and they remained married for 41 years until his death in 2012. Cindy loved every one of her grandchildren. She also helped raise and was a mother figure to many others including nieces, nephews, and anyone with a need from the community. Cindy was blessed with a large and loving family that will dearly miss her, but celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her Creator. On Wednesday, May 5, she returned to her heavenly home to be reunited with her parents, and the love of her life, her husband Norman, with whom she had loved for over 41 years.
Left to cherish her memories and to continue her legacy are her two devoted sons, Gregorie Mccray (Maris) and Norman Mccray Jr (Lindsay). Fifteen adoring grandchildren – Jeffrey Jr., Tyneesha, Gresha, Jamie, Ciera, Avery, Demetrius, Darius, Ahmani, Donovan, ZyAsia, ZaMiyah, ZaVeah, Jace, and Breighlyn.
