Cathy was born to the later Walter Brooks & Cathelene Harris on June 12, 1954. She departed this life unexpectedly on October 31, 2022. Cathy attended District of Columbia Public Schools & Louisa County Public Schools.

Cathy joined Philippi Christian Church at an early age; She served on the combined choir and T.E. Anderson Choir. Cathy & her sister Betsy Brooks formed the Brooks Sisters. And the Brooks Family singers. Cathy loved to fellowship with other churches.

Cathy loved singing her favorite gospel hymns and occasionally playing the lead guitar and drums. Cathy was known to boast about the goodness of God. and how she loved to call on the name of Jesus. And when Cathy took her shoes off, it provoked a higher praise unto the Lord.

Cathy also enjoyed watching her favorite team Dallas Cowboys, lose or win. She enjoyed family singing together, and she loved to laugh. Cathy worked at Holly Farms, Mineral Express Lane, and Hardee, where she retired after twenty-five years.

Cathy was preceded in death by her husband, John Chambers; Aunt & Guardian, Virginia Jones; Siblings; Aaron Brooks, Dennis Brooks; Stanley Brooks; and Shirley Boyd. One grandson Justin Yelder Jr.

She leaves to celebrate her life with her children; Joseph Scott, Nicole Scott, John (Trina), Scott, Stepchildren; Rachel (Carl) (Matthews, Nikisha (Bernard), Diggs, Tomar((Tabu), Brooks. Fifteen grandchildren; Kimeria, Aaliyah, Alima, Egypt, Asia, Brooklyn, Ajani, Cornell, Trevor, Joseph Jr; Jashae, and Jada Scott. Antonio Williams, Tierra Tyler, and Devin Taylor. Four Sisters; Bessie Brooks, Ellen Hartridge; Louisa Stanley; and Rachel Anderson. Seven Brothers; Richard Brooks, Nelson Johnson, Joseph Johnson; Michael (Barbara) Johnson, Willie Johnson, Calvin Brooks, & Caesar Brooks. One Aunt Julia Shelton. And a Host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
