On Sunday, February 12, 2023, Betty obtained her heavenly wings and entered into eternal rest.

Betty Jane George was born November 16, 1962, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Bobye Lee and Katie Mae Jackson George.

Betty was baptized at Providence Baptist Church at a very early age and joined the Twilight Gospel singers which started her love of music. Following the death of her parents, she started her education in Ashland VA at John M Gandy Elementary followed by Liberty Middle, and graduated from New Britain High School in New Britain, CT. She then attended 1 year of college in Asbury Park New Jersey. She started her professional career in the Department of Social Services with Monmouth County in Freehold, New Jersey in 1987.

Betty welcomed her one and only child on January 12, 1990, and both relocated to Richmond Virginia in 1997 where she continued her professional life with the Department of Social Services in the City of Richmond. Followed by a short period of time with the City of Petersburg in the same field. At the time of her death, she was employed with the New Kent County Department of Social Services. Betty was a very loving, giving kind-hearted person who would do anything she could for anyone who was a part of her world, and she really always enjoyed working directly with the public.
Anyone who knew Betty knew that she loved music, all kinds of music, and enjoyed hosting her famous wax parties (records parties) for her family and friends. She could also be found at any time during the year at a music concert with her many close friends and was always willing to travel wherever she needed to enjoy her many favorite artists. Betty also really enjoyed driving and anytime one of her friends or family members needed to go somewhere she was right there to drive them and most of the time do all the driving to and back. Betty will be greatly missed by so many who loved her.

Betty was predeceased by her brother, Bobye F. George. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving son, Stefon George, and her loving sisters, Martina George-Fields (Teren), Altimese George, and Barbara “Jeannie” George. Numerous cousins and many friends, including her dear friends, Princess Woolridge, Crystal Coleman, Paulette Brothers, and Lakisha Gravely.
