Betty Jean Allen’s life journey began in Stafford County, Virginia on December 10, 1940. She was born to the late Robert and Martha Bumbrey and departed this life peacefully in her sleep on April 23, 2022 at her residence. She was the third of six children. She was educated in the Stafford County public school system.

She was employed by the Department of the Navy Amphibious Warfare School Education Center Marine Corp Development and Education Command, Quantico, Virginia and retired after 35 years of service in 1995 at an early age. She accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized at Little Forest Baptist Church, Stafford, Virginia. She was faithful in reading her Daily Bread Devotional.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons Steven E. Bumbrey (Rose Lynn Bumbrey), Terrill L. Allen, and other special family members to include her two grandchildren Candace and Aaron Bumbrey, and two great-grand children Jeremiah Lewis, Cimora Lewis, and Aidan Bumbrey and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Robert L. Bumbrey, and mother Martha E. Bumbrey. She leaves behind five sisters Dorothy Allen, Mary Ann Johnson (Bradford and Yvette), Evelyn Jones (Raynard), Helen Johnson (Russell) Jay and Jwan), and 1 brother Robert Bumbrey.
