Basil E Fountain fell asleep in death on March 18,2023. He was born to the late Basil J. Fountain and Mary F. Fountain on September 23,1952. He is proceeded in death by his wife Nell Fountain, sisters, Vanessa Harris, Jacqueline Fountain, and Jeanetta Fountain. His Aunts Sadie Romaine, Lucille Johnson, Mattie Bell Taliaferro, Bobbie Jean Kenney, Anna Mae Fountain, Edmonia Fountain, Alma Doer, Martha Allen, and Pearl Fountain. His uncles Daniel Fountain, Mauriel Fountain, Walter Hughes, Harrison Hughes, and Paul Hughes. His close cousin Jerome Hughes.
Basil was born and raised in Hanover County. Basil was known by many by the name Dean. He attended Hanover School system. He worked in the corrugated container business for several years. In his leisure time he enjoyed racing cars, shooting horseshoes, hanging out with family and friends. His favorite football team was the San Francisco 49er’s.
Basil married Nell Fountain December 3,1989. They joined their families to become one. Basil fathered a son Eric Fountain and gained a step- son Jermaine Jones.
Basil’s legacy will move forward through his children Eric (Lanetta) Fountain, Jermaine (Kim) Jones. He is also survived by His Uncle Robert (Joe) Fountain. His siblings Janet (Charles) Samuel Sr., Edward (Vernia) Fountain. His Grandchildren Victoria (Leon) Autery III, Miss Promise Jones, Quin ’Darius (Jessica) Walker, Cassandra Autery and Jonecia Tart. His Great-Grandchildren: KaMiyah Autery, Sha’Liyah Autery, Mahogany Walker, Leon Autery IV, Le’Ondre Autery, Cyani Autery, Loryn Autery, Masyn Eley, LaRiyah Autery, Q’Lannie Walker and ZaKariah Autery. Close cousins David Fountain and Samantha Garnett. His nephews Edward Fountain Michael Wilkerson, Chance Harris, Brandon Harris, Charles Samuel Jr. Nieces Tinisha Wilkerson, Lisa Samuel, and Zaria Fountain. Close friend and caretaker Robert Turner.
