Arlean D. Hunter-Jones went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 2, 2022. Arlean was born December 2, 1946 to the late Phillip L. and Fannie M. Hunter. She was a graduate of Union High School in Caroline County, Va.
Arlean was employed by Tyson’s Food for over 30 years until her retirement. She was also employed by Hanover County Public Schools for several years until retirement. Arlean loved the children, faculty and staff in Hanover, therefore she went back into the workforce with great joy until death.
Arlean dedicated her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She loved her Pastor, First Lady and entire church family. She was a faithful and committed Usher. Before the pandemic, she traveled many roads attending ushers programs at various churches. After marrying the love of her life, Allen Jones, she joined the Marriage Ministry and was always excited in attending monthly meetings and events with other couples. Since the pandemic, Arlean loved fellowshipping weekly with “God’s Got It” ministry. She was faithful in opening and welcoming everyone to the prayer line, recruiting guest speakers to share the Word, in addition to singing and sharing the Word. She loved the Lord and shared the gospel to all she knew and even to those she didn’t know. Arlean witnessed to everyone about her Lord.
Arlean was preceded in death by her loving parents, Phillip and Fannie Hunter; three brothers, Stewart, Matthew and Tyrone Hunter; one sister, Fannie M. Coles.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving and devoted husband, Allen Jones, Jr.; a loving daughter, Loretta (Marcellus) Smith; two loving stepchildren, Allen “Neil” Jones and Alicia Jones; two loving grandchildren, Breonda and Marcellus Smith, II; one great granddaughter, Saniya Majette; three stepgrandchildren, Allen L. Jones, Jr. , Logan Jones and Jayden Johnson; one loving Brother, Dwight Hunter; two nephews, Roderick (Penny) Gaines and Stewart Hunter, Jr.; two Aunts, Ruby (Walter) Campbell and Lucille Hunter; three sisters in law, Blondie Hunter, Gladys Coleman and Eloise Lewis; one brother in law, Kennie Jones. Arlean will be missed by all who knew her. Her remembrance will always be treasured by Barbara (Carl) Lee, Evangelist Patricia (Percy) Studvent, Prophetess Joanne Walker and “her girls” as she called them, Sabrina and Vanetta Stevens, Jennifer, Charlene and Candy Morris; devoted friends, Diane Pleasants, Faye Tillman, Shirley Clarke, Eloise Green and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
