ALVIN EMMITT SMITH WAS BORN TO ELIZABETH AND HARRY SMITH IN RICHMOND, VA ON MARCH 15TH, 1951. HE WAS RAISED IN COATESVILLE, VIRGINIA.
ALVIN WAS FORMERLY EDUCATED IN HANOVER COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND PLAYED FOOTBALL WHILE IN HIGH SCHOOL. HE WAS WILDLY KNOWN FOR HIS SINGING AND HARMONIZING WHILE AMONGST HIS FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

ALVIN STARTED WORKING TO PROVIDE FOR HIS FAMILY AT A YOUNG AGE AND WAS A STRONG FAMILY MAN. HE WAS EMPLOYED AT TRAVELCENTERS OF AMERICA, ASHLAND LUMBER COMPANY, AND MCDONALD’S THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER BEFORE HE RETIRED FROM WORKING IN 2016.
IN ALVIN’S SPARE TIME, HE WOULD ENJOY SPENDING TIME WITH HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS. HE WAS VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT FOOTBALL AND WAS A BIG FAN OF THE WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM. HE ALSO HAD A DEEP LOVE FOR FAST CARS AND LOUD MUSIC.

ALVIN WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS MOTHER ELIZABETH SMITH, FATHER HARRY SMITH, BROTHERS LINWOOD, EARNEST, RAYMOND SMITH, AND SON JUSTIN SMITH. HE LEAVES TO CHERISH HIS LIFE HIS WIFE GLORIA SMITH, SON ALEN SMITH, SISTER BETTY DABNEY, BROTHER ALEXANDER SMITH, GRANDDAUGHTER LAMIIJA SAMUEL AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW ANNA SMITH. TO KNOW HIM WAS TO LOVE HIM AND HE WILL BE SURELY MISSED.
