Obituary

Emma Elizabeth DeBorous slipped quietly into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Henrico Doctor’s Hospital. She was born on May 9, 1930 to the late Marion and Nannie DeBorous and was preceded in death by her brother Jack DeBorous.

Emma was educated through the public school system of Hanover County. She was employed at the Ashland Shirt Factory for many years until it closed. After which, she worked for 16 1/2 years at South Anna Elementary School as a custodian where she was loved dearly!

At a very early age she was consecrated to Christ and became a member of The Ebenezer Baptist Church. She was not only dedicated to South Anna Elementary School but truly dedicated to Ebenezer Baptist Church where she also served as custodian until her health failed. She was a member of the Usher Board, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent Assistant, Pastor’s Aide Ministry, Missionary Ministry, and a dedicated member of the Board of Christian Education Ministry. She loved to sing and was a dedicated member the Sanctuary Choir.

She is survived by her devoted Son Wallace (Shirley) DeBorous; one devoted Sister: Goldie DeBorous; one Aunt: Robnet Huff; four grandchildren: Brenda and Dwan DeBorous, Sherry Thomas and Sherrod (Kim) Thomas; Ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A devoted cousin, Delores Tyler and a devoted niece, Jean Toliver
