Obituary

Glen Nathan Mines departed this life February 5, 2018. Glen, affectionately, known as “Stinka” was born May 27, 1950 in Hanover County, VA to the late Sarah Mines Hinton and Wilbur Nicholas. He accepted Christ at an early and joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Beaverdam, VA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Regina Rose and his brother Walter “Lumpy” Alphonso Mines.

He was educated in Hanover County Public Schools and served our country in the U.S. Army. After his honorable discharge from the service, he became an electrician and worked numerous jobs. He was last employed with McGuire Veterans hospital for 10 years and retired in May of 2016.

Stinka loved music and Reggae was his favorite. He was an avid pool player and loved to watch movies. Though small in statue he was a real loud firecracker.

He loved his family and talked about them to everyone. No conversation was complete with him talking about and doting on his “Tooda”, “Tina” and “Mond”. He loved his children and grandchildren.

Glen leaves to forever cherish his smile and memories, two daughters, Ebony “Tooda” Mines and Catina “Tina” Trice; one son, Demond “Mond” Mines; 8 grandchildren, Adaeze Bandele, Shantina Trice, David Johnson, Jr., Shanteisa Johnson, Davel Johnson, Shania King, Shamiyah King and Barry King, Jr.; one brother, James “Whistle Pete” Mines (Jane); two sister-in-laws, Diane Robinson (David) and Joanne Mines; two brother-in-laws, Wayne and Calvin Johnson; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends among them and devoted, Jack King.
