Clyde Lee Jackson, Sr., 84, departed this life on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center.

Clyde was born May 30, 1933 in Hanover County in a place called Wickham. Clyde was the son of the lade Jessle T. and Edith C. Jackson. On April 26, 1958 he was united in marriage to Catherine Ann Richards and from this union three children were born. Clyde received his education in Hanover County through the Wickham school system.

Clyde worked for Flippo Lumber Mill Company in Doswell, Virginia for twenty -nine years. At an early age Clyde accepted Christ and joined Providence Baptist Church. Clyde loved the Lord and loved attending church each Sunday. He attended Providence Baptist Church until his health started to fail. Clyde had a love for gardening. He would plant a huge garden with all kinds of vegetables and he loved to give the vegetables to family and friends.

Clyde also had a love for dressing, he loved his suits and he had many of them. He had to have the matching hat and shoes. He got great compliments on this. He also loved cars and lawnmowers. Clyde also had a breakfast and lunch group that met regularly at McDonalds. They would eat and fellowship together. Clyde was also a very kind hearted, giving and generous person. He would give you money if you needed it, pay for your food, give you a ride and take you places. He never expected anything in return. If you needed help he was always there to help you. Clyde’s famous saying to his family was “I love you, but I love everybody.”

Clyde was preceded in death by his late wife, Catherine R. Jackson of fifty years. Clyde was also preceded in death by his late sisters and brothers, Marion Jackson, Edith Lewis, Katie George, Rachel Winston, Cora Kates, Everett Jackson and James Jackson. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving son, Clyde Jackson, Jr. (Donna); two daughters, Cathy Holman (Carl) and Susie Jackson; five grand children, Cherelle D. Holman, Summer W. Jackson, Hannelore, Bobby and Courtney Trayer; three great grand children, Madison Holman, Lily and London Trayer; one sister -in -law, Carrie Cary, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. One devoted niece Wilnette Jackson; three devoted friends, Marguerite Mines, Henry Wilkerson Sr., and Darren Eggleston; on devoted cousin, Celestine Mickens.
