Delia L. Winston was born March 18, 1934 in Hanover County, VA to the late Samuel and Betty Elizabeth (Jones) Lewis. She graduated from John M Gandy High School 1953 where she also met her High School sweetheart Earl G. Winston; they were married December 26, 1954 and remained married for an awesome 63 + years. Delia soon became the mother to one son Earl George Winston Jr. who was her greatest joy.

Delia joined Brown Grove Church at an early age, after marrying she moved her membership to Abner Baptist Church. She was a devoted member; Deaconess, Usher and also served on the Pastor Aide committee for many years. She was honored as Mother of the Year at Abner Baptist Church. She also worked for the late Dr. Ursla Reese in Ashland, VA. She then worked for 5 more years caring for others as a Home Care Aide.

She enjoyed being a mother, loving wife and a dedicated church member. Another one of her greatest joys was cooking for Abner Homecoming Dinners and her family with her signature Coconut Pound Cake and Sweet Potatoe Pies, while watching her favorite game shows on television. Afterwards, she would work in the yard that she took great pleasure in keeping maintained by riding on the lawn mower. She has an extensive travel resume reaching to Europe (The Netherlands) were she witnessed her only son marry , she also traveled to Mississippi, Louisiana, Maryland and New York to visit family.

She was preceded in death by two brothers Robert Lewis, Sr and Carol Lewis, Sr. She leaves to cherish her memories a loving and devoted husband Earl G Winston Sr, one son Earl G. Winston Jr (Barbara) three sisters Barbara Stansbury (Cleo) of Buffalo, New York; Mary Griffin of North Chesterfield, VA; Betty Jean Johnson of Glen Allen, VA; two brothers John Lewis (Eleanor) of Ashland, VA and Bernard Lewis of Richmond, VA; a host of nieces, nephew cousins other relatives and friends.
