Shirley Nelson Jr.



Shirley Nelson Jr, 72 of Louisa County, Virginia entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Henrico Doctors Hospital.

Shirley was born to the late Shirley and Claire Nelson on March 19,1945. One brother, four sister in laws, two brother in laws preceded him in death, Curtis Nelson, Geneva Sampson, Myrtle O., Thelma M., Helen M. Clarke, Thomas R. Clarke and Chastine I Clarke.

He graduated from Archie G. Richardson High School Louisa County VA, in 1963. Thereafter he joined the U S Army in 1965 to 1968. He was a devoted employee of the Richmond Times Dispatched where he retired from as a Machine Repair over 30 years of service.

Shirley accepted the Lord as his savior early in life. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Bumpass Va. He took pride in knowing his soul was saved and through Christ he received the greatest gift of all, eternal life.

He loved and was loved by everyone. He will be remembered for his generosity, humility, sensor of humor and was always willing to lend a helpful hand. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He leaves behind his dedicated wife of 46 years Ellen H Nelson; four daughters Nicole Nelson, Stephanie Wilson, Shantae King, La’Kesha King; four brothers John (Marie), Lindsay (Myra), Toney(Mona), Marvin; four sister Florine Boddie (Carl), Ernestine Johnson (Ronald), Pearl Thomas (James), Darlene Bolden (Bruce); two aunt Marion Robinson, Doris Jackson; five brother in laws James E. (Christine), Walter W. (Adeline), Benjamin F. (Patricia) Garland, Winfrey; three sister in laws Georgia V. Nelson (Harold), Joyce E. Yates (Eddie), Mary Clarke-Campbell (Ronald); 10 grandchildren Latoya Nelson, Tiana, Jada, Tamel, Lamont, Gabrielle, Koriana, Andre III, Kayvohn; two great grandchildren; Ja’Kayla Mason and Carter Brown. A devoted friend Richard Lee. A host of loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, great-nieces, great- nephews, cousins, and friends.
