On Wednesday, April 5, 2017, an angel appeared, took Chastine Irvin Clarke by the hand and led him from his residence in Glen Allen, Virginia.
Chastine was born to the late Helen and Emmett Clarke on January 22 ,1939 and raised by his step-mother Garnette Clarke. Four sister, one brother and step-son preceded him in death, Geneva Sampson, Myrtle O., Thelma M., Helen M. Clarke, brother Thomas R. Clarke and step-son Gary Taylor.
He grew up on route 33, in the County of Hanover, Virginia where he was educated at Ashland High School now call John M. Gandy. He was a devoted employee for several year at Dominion Power, Richmond, Va. He retired from The International Mission Board as a custodian after 25 years of service. He was a volunteer fire fighter at The Farrington firehouse. He helped build the original firehouse and was a charter member as well.
Chastine accepted the Lord as his savior early in life. He was a member of Abner Baptist Church, where he was a humble male chorus member. He took pride in knowing his soul was saved and through Christ he received the greatest gift of all, eternal life.
He loved to laugh and make others laugh as well. Beyond the fun, laughter and his illness, Chastine was always willing to lend a helpful hand. He made friends wherever he went, and his company was always enjoyed by all. When people saw him, his older brother James, was not far behind. They were the best of friends! He loved hunting with his brothers James and Ben. His favorite pass time were to sit on his front porch and smell the fresh air. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory A dedicated niece Linda Farmer, one devoted great- niece Tommisha Hudson; five brothers, James E. (Christine), Walter W. (Adeline), Benjamin F. (Patricia) Garland, Winfrey; four sisters, Ellen H. Nelson (Shirley), Georgia V. Nelson (Harold), Joyce E. Some of my best memories at church are of you calling me your daughter and trying to grab my braids. You used to laugh and laugh every single time. Rest in peace.
