Obituary

Lisa Yvella Smith, daughter of the late James Edward and Annie Lorraine Smith, born May 18, 1967 in Richmond, Virginia, departed this life on Thursday, March 30, 2017.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bethany Baptist Church, On April 24, 2011, Lisa rededicated her life to the Lord and was baptized in Kates Chapel in Goochland, Virginia.

Lisa attended Hanover County Public Schools in Montpelier, Virginia and later Henrico Public Schools in Henrico, Virginia. After school, she chose a life of public service. She worked in housekeeping in Ashland, Virginia a few years in local Motels and later a few Hotels in Richmond, Virginia. More recently Lisa served in a public capacity assisting a friend of hers with seniors & cleaning homes for the elderly.

Lisa also had a gift for braiding & weaving hair which she did for family and friends. In her past time, she enjoyed walking for exercise, music, taking selfies, and spending time with family & her fiancé.

Lisa Leaves to cherish her memories two daughters Sierra Lorraine Smith and Kendra LeAnn Dabney of Henrico, Virginia; four grandchildren Korriah Nyasia & Jairell DaeQuan Smith, James Edward Morris Jr, and Tyhje’ Lavell Samuels; three foster sisters Deborah R. Freddie of Alexandria, Virginia, Shirley B. Lawson of Henrico, Virginia, and Laura (Roscoe) Wingfield of Henrico, Virginia; a devoted fiancé Pete Fortenberry of Richmond, Virginia; one uncle Frank Phillips of Hanover, Virginia; four aunts Bernice Phillips, Irma Mae Johnson, Jeannette Thomas of Montpelier, Virginia, and Octavia Phillips of Glen Allen, Virginia; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
